I had been looking for a way to ramp up my 5-minute makeup routine, and the silver bullet has been this simple and chic eyeliner look that barely added 60 seconds to my routine.
I’ve been getting so many compliments on this eyeliner routine lately, so I thought I’d share my current go-to method with you all. It’s easy, it uses one product, and it’s perfect for those of us with slightly hooded eyes.

Get the look
First things first, I’ve been loving a dark brown gel pencil liner. It’s softer than black, but still gives gorgeous definition. The key here is to keep your pencil sharp. I always aim for a thin line, as close to the lash line as possible. A sharp pencil helps to really get in there. I focus on the outer half of my eye, which helps to create a subtle, natural lift.
I know winged liner is all the rage, but with my slightly hooded eyes, it’s more of a challenge than it’s worth. Plus, I’ve found that I actually prefer the look without it.
I also skip the tightlining step. My eyes are on the sensitive side, and I’ve found that tightlining can cause a lot of irritation throughout the day. Instead, once I’ve got my liner on, I curl my lashes and apply lots of mascara. It’s amazing how much of a difference this step can make!
And there you have it! That’s my current eyeliner routine. It’s all about keeping it simple, enhancing your natural features, and, most importantly, feeling comfortable and confident. Remember, makeup is a form of self-expression, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you!
